What is slimming Tui Na?
+
Tui Na (also spelled tuina) is the traditional Chinese hands-on treatment: “tui” means push, “na” grasp. Slimming Tui Na is a modern version devoted to the silhouette: one hour on the table, with oil, combining manual lymphatic drainage, acupressure, skin rolling and, when it suits you, cupping, on the abdomen, waist, hips, thighs and buttocks. At Maison Ling the session lasts 60 minutes, costs €100 and is given at the studio in the 8th, for women only.
Does slimming Tui Na make you lose weight?
+
It is not a weight-loss treatment, and I promise neither kilos nor centimetres. Slimming Tui Na works the tissues of the abdomen, hips and thighs: they feel softer, and the session ends with a feeling of warmth and lightness. For the silhouette, it is a matter of several sessions, alongside a lifestyle that goes the same way.
How is it different from wood therapy or machine skin rolling?
+
Wood therapy works with wooden tools, machine skin rolling with a device that draws in and rolls the skin. Slimming Tui Na is done by hand: the pressure, the skin rolling and the acupressure follow what I feel under my fingers, and cupping only comes as a complement, when it suits your skin.
How is it different from lymphatic drainage?
+
The Signature Session is lymphatic drainage of the whole body, from décolleté to ankles, Renata França method. Slimming Tui Na starts with a time of drainage, then focuses on the abdomen, hips, thighs and buttocks, with the Tui Na gestures: acupressure, skin rolling, percussion and cupping. For heavy legs or fluid retention, I will rather advise the drainage.
Why does the Signature Session cost more?
+
Because it goes further. It is a complete protocol for the whole body, from décolleté to ankles, in the Renata França method, whose official training assesses every practitioner before certifying her. It starts with a body assessment, can be received at the studio or at home, and can continue as a course. Slimming Tui Na is a focused one-hour treatment on a few areas, at the studio.
Does it hurt?
+
Skin rolling can feel intense on the densest areas. I adjust the pressure throughout the session, and you tell me at any moment what feels comfortable.
Does cupping leave marks?
+
It can leave redness or round marks, which fade within a few days, sometimes a week. If you have an event coming up, tell me: I then work by hand, without cupping.
How many sessions should I plan?
+
Like any work on the silhouette, slimming Tui Na is a matter of several sessions. We decide together after the first one, since every body has its own pace; there is no course to pay in advance.
Are there contraindications?
+
Yes. Pregnancy, phlebitis or thrombosis, varicose veins on the areas worked, anticoagulant treatment, an infection, fever, a skin lesion, eczema or psoriasis rule out the session or the area concerned. After surgery, after giving birth or during a treatment, your doctor’s opinion is required before the session. This is a wellbeing treatment and never replaces medical advice.
Is slimming Tui Na for women only?
+
Yes. Like the lymphatic drainage, it is for women only, at the studio in the 8th, by appointment.
How much is a session, and how do I book?
+
€100 for a 60 minute session, at the studio in the 8th. It is booked online in under a minute, Monday to Saturday; payment is by card only, at the end of the session. Any session cancelled less than twenty-four hours ahead is due.
Can I give it as a gift?
+
Yes, as a gift card: €100, valid twelve months, for a session at the studio. The card leaves at once by email, as a PDF.
